Delirium - Lauren Oliver

I’m so sorry for the delay of today’s post, I got a flu and a little sore throat which caused me a little bit of fever so because of those I couldn’t type, but let’s move on and let this things behind and begging with my first Review of the year!!!!!! Uhuuuuuuu……

Continuing with the dystopia topic, today I’m going to be passing for you my point of view about the trilogy of Delirium book from Lauren Oliver and published by HarperCollins, I’ll try to not spoiler, I hope you enjoy it!

The book brings into focus Magdalena Haloway’s life, she lives in Portland Northwest of United States of Amreica, in the social overview we have in perspective that love has been the main reason of the disgrace of our society over the centuries, therefore, the scientists search the solution for this sickness that is deep-rooted on our human being.

After some research they found out the ideal point that a treatment could be apply on the age of sixteen years old, thus they would decrease the chances of a patient to die or lost your mind. The image of the Shhh…, maintainer organ of this dictatorial system, pass to the society that the virus Amor Deliria Nervosa is extremely danger, highly contagious and which could destroy everyone’s life of those that are around of whose is “contaminated”.

As punishment they debase economic and socially the families of those who had a family member that was infected for this “virus” and that shhh… has to anticipate the treatment or sending the contaminated one to the crypts (awful prison). Thus the responsibility for financially raising will depend of the way the family is able to control your relatives, especially the teenagers.

Although, what they don’t divulge are the massacre caused for them to those who rebelled to the new system, whit the use of bombs of high power and troops sent to destroy houses an kill everyone who rebelled against the new order.

Otherwise, the schools teach for kid that the purification was volunteer and the destruction images they see on class were caused by tribal’s fight between the not healed, and that the world outside the wall is too danger and they can’t predict what could happen in there because they would be surround of infected people.

The writer also shows us the diversity of consequences that his virus treatment could bring to people. We have two extremes one on Fred Hargrove character that demonstrate a complete lack of felling and affection for a living creature, a certain sociopathy and Annabel Haloway despite several attempts and the use of different methods that resulted in nothing on her, so this way they sent her to the crypts for being judged inappropriate to live among the society.

But these facts are mostly hidden from society and our character in question, in view of it at the beginning of Delirium is that society in which she lives is perfect and she longs for the day when she is going to be paired with a young man and will be free of risk of contracting Deliria.

But as it is a novel, Alex Sheathes appears in her life and show her how mucky is the community in which she lives and how ignorant of information people who live in there are, as they are manipulated by politicians.

Magdalene undergoing major changes as a person, will leave a bell jar to begin to face reality as it really is. In this quest for survival it acquires more knowledge about how wrong was your perspective and that people should have the right to choose to love and think for themselves.

Unlike other books that focus more internal struggles of the main character, this saga can bring an overview of everything from the war that is going on until the novels that will develop and mysteries about the life of Lena that are being unrevealed

Is it worth?????

Yes, It’s very worth it!

Although the first book is slower due to the author explain the social dynamics, it is very enjoyable and engaging reading this collection. If you like playing powers, riots, people defending their ideas and a novel nothing sloppy in honey then this book is for you.
